Seoul: Bliss

31 Oct

It probably wasn’t a good idea to head down to Itaewon on a Sunday night as much of the crazy action that the foreigner-friendly area is famed for seemed missing. Nevertheless, I was in the mood for a drink (non-Korean) and we found Bliss which is tucked away in one of the hidden alleys, off Itaewon’s main drag. It was still quite packed relative to its neighbouring establishments.

We chose to sit inside as it was getting a bit chilly in the al-fresco area, though they did provide thick blankets and heaters. The place is really dimly lit (could barely see the menu) but is rather classy looking and perfect for a date night out as many of the patrons seemed to be couples.

The drinks menu was very extensive, and has all the usual western drinks you would expect. There was also a food menu consisting of pizzas and pasta, etc. but we didn’t try. My moscow mule was no frills but was well-made and the hubs had fresh guinness on tap. There were also complimentary mini pretzels that were delicious!

Bliss bar was a nice respite from all the Korean food and drinks we had been consuming the whole trip. So if you are in Seoul and sick of the sojus and makgeolli you know where to go.

Price: $-$$ (cocktails from 9,000W up, food 15,000W and up)
Location: From Itaewon subway station, take Exit #4 and walk ahead 30m to the public phone booth. About 30 steps past Tom n Tom you will see Dillinger’s bar (accross the street from Delsey Luggage) – go down the staircase and Bar Bliss is on the right. From Hamilton Hotel, cross the street and make a right, then follow the same directions.

Looks like a nice to to relax in before hitting the town. I’ve never been but may check it out next time in on a date in Itaewon. Thanks for sharing :)
